Here is where I post my honest thoughts about Faith in Jesus.

Honestly, I had a great conversation with my dad today…which doesn’t happen all that often. We’re too much alike and tend to butt heads. But he shared his heart with me and I feel like I understand him a little better now. He also gave me a DVD called Buck. It’s a documentary about a real life Horse Whisperer and the abuse he went through as a child. This led him to understand body language really well and taught him to understand animals body language as well.
My dad relates to Buck in the abuse factor and it really opened my eyes to what my dad went through. This seems like a boring post, but it was very meaningful. I want to know my dad.

Broken Children

Honestly, this post about broke me. I am guilty of what this post suggests…not so much the “making my children cower down” part….but definitely not spending every day being with them, playing with them, showing my love for them.

Every day my son asks if we could wrestle…and almost every day I have something I “have” to do. It breaks my heart putting his attempts to spend time with me into perspective. I choose to be a better daddy, and I hope you do too.

Honestly, I’m SOOOO excited about tomorrow night at Verve. Specifically speaking about Salvation… I truly believe so many lives will be changed! THEN, I get to give the message next week to our High School group!

Lord, do incredible things in the lives of these students.

Honestly, I had the thought on my way home from church that I’m exactly where God wants me to be. And it feels GREAT!

There are times when serving in the church seems tiresome, difficult, and flat out unproductive. Sometimes you feel like you give of yourself so people will see and experience the love that only God can give and yet nothing seems to happen.

The bottom line is that, through
Christ, God will redeem. I can either continue to walk where He leads, or choose to go on my own. I choose Christ.

This week, we will be very intentional about salvation (more so than usual) and I can’t wait to see the students respond to the gospel.

Thanks to God for placing me with!

Honestly, I almost forgot to post today. I’m super tired and have been going all weekend/today. But, what I had planned on posting was about a man named Rich Mullins. He died 14 years ago today.

For those who have no idea who he was, Rich was an amazing musician, lyricist, and theologian. Many songs that he wrote still have impact on my daily walk and understanding of who God is and what role I have in the greater mission.

Here are just a few things Rich said:

  • “I grew up hearing everyone tell me ‘God loves you’. I would say big deal, God loves everybody. That don’t make me special! That just proves that God ain’t got no taste. And, I don’t think He does. Thank God! Because He takes the junk of our lives and makes the most beautiful art.” ― Rich MullinsRich Mullins: Home
  • “A faith that moves mountains is a faith that expands horizons, it does not bring us into a smaller world full of easy answers, but into a larger one where there is room for wonder.”
  • “The Bible is not a book for the faint of heart — it is a book full of all the greed and glory and violence and tenderness and sex and betrayal that benefits mankind. It is not the collection of pretty little anecdotes mouthed by pious little church mice — it does not so much nibble at our shoe leather as it cuts to the heart and splits the marrow from the bone. It does not give us answers fitted to our small-minded questions, but truth that goes beyond what we even know to ask.”

And my favorite:

  • “I had a professor one time… He said, ‘Class, you will forget almost everything I will teach you in here, so please remember this: that God spoke to Balaam through his ass, and He has been speaking through asses ever since. So, if God should choose to speak through you, you need not think too highly of yourself. And, if on meeting someone, right away you recognize what they are, listen to them anyway’.”

The man had a huge impact on many people, some who knew him and some who didn’t. I highly encourage you check out his writings and music.

I’ll close by adding a song written by Andrew Peterson about the day he found out about Rich’s death. It’s called “Three Days Before Autumn.”

Honestly, I am absolutely delighted that our current weather in Wichita, KS is 60 degrees and overcast. Fall excites me like no other season!

All I can think about is leaves on the ground, long sleeve shirts, pumpkins, turkey, family, and football. This season has delivered some of the best experiences of my life.

Thankful for Kansas sunsets and seasons. Extremely thankful that God has allowed me at least one more beginning of fall.

Gobble Gobble.

Honestly, this is one of the most incredible pictures I’ve seen. I love it. Enjoy and be sure to share so this photographer gets plenty of encouragement and notoriety.
